A magical place alongside the River. We are nestled between the tall mountains and the sea and surrounded by a jungle that is a protected wildlife corridor/nature park with hiking trails. We are not close to nature, we are nature! It is infused into our Eco-Lodge. Nature is enjoyed throughout the property with our lush tropical landscaping and nature trails! Lull yourself to sleep with the tranquil sound of the river. Awake to the symphony of exotic birds that frequent our property!

Interaction

We live on the property in the main lodge. We are available to ensure your stay is exactly how you want it to be.

Our preferred method of communication is through WhatsApp, a free app for your smartphone. We have a business account for Casitas Del Rio. With WhatsApp you can text or call us with no international fees. In fact over our wi-fi on the property you can call or text anywhere in the world for free.

Neighborhood

We are centrally located on the West Coast of Costa Rica. Providing easy access to over 5 different beaches including the largest national marine park in the country, Whale's Tail Beach! See dolphins and whales, humpback whales spend a longer time here than any other area in the world! From Casitas Del Rio Riverfront Eco-Lodge, you can easily do day trips North to Manual Antonio or south to the Osa Penisula.

The quaint beach town of Uvita and the lovely beaches of Playa Ballena, Playa Colonia, and Playa Hermosa are a 5 minute drive from your villa. Dominical, the popular surf town with its funky bohemian beach bar vibe, is a 12 minute drive north.

Tons of activities ranging from hiking, bird watching, zip lining and canopy tours, canyoning, many waterfalls, horseback riding, river wildlife tours, cultural tours, farm tours, chocolate tours, or just relax and have a massage right on the property!

Access

Easy access with a 2x2 car. Casitas Del Rio is only 2km off the main highway, Costanera. The road to Casitas Del Rio is mostly paved. Within minutes you can be on the beach or in the town of Uvita. Yet, our location is quite secluded at the end of a private road.

You have access to the amazing 50ft swimming pool with custom Bali tiles and stonework. You also have access to the network of walking paths and several lounging areas along the river with places to sit and enjoy the nature and river.

Easy access off the Costanera highway. You can easily access the property with a 2x2 vehicle.

La Rana is Spanish for the frog and is inspired by the colorful rainforest frogs found throughout our property and on-site nature trails. La Rana is our deluxe villa featuring a larger covered deck with an outdoor table, a larger bathroom, a shower, and a private path to a concrete picnic table.

Our location allows quick and easy access to beaches, grocery stores, restaurants, banks, and many adventures. The small town of Uvita and the lovely beaches of Playa Ballena, Playa Colonia, and Playa Hermosa are a 5-minute drive from your Casita. Dominical or Ojochal are only 15-minutes away

Surrounded by a protected wildlife corridor and at the end of a private road. You will be infused with nature with the magical combination of the river and jungle attracting tons of Costa Rica's unique wildlife!

Each villa perfectly accommodates 2 people and is thoughtfully furnished with queen sized bed, a locally made dining table for 2, a bathroom with a granite sink, a powerful large shower, and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is complete with all the necessary utensils you require to cook your perfect meal. It includes dishes, a 2 burner stove-top, a separate grill, a fridge, a microwave oven, a toaster, and a coffeemaker. Stock up on groceries in Uvita or contact us to have groceries waiting for you in the villa!

Outside your villa, you will enjoy the lush tropical plants and trees that surround Casita Del Rio and provide you with a true jungle feel. There is private secure parking next to your accommodation. The porch is covered and has the added benefit of a ceiling fan with a view of the river and jungle. Hear the Congo monkeys howl, watch the toucans fly from tree to tree, and dip your toes in the cascading ripples of the river right in front of your porch. We take bookings for individuals, families, or groups. You could even rent all 3 Villas for a private family or friends getaway, or an intimate wedding ceremony.

Our area offers stunning mountain and coastal scenery. The massive national park includes 4 beaches, the largest coral reef in the country, and of course the massive migration of whales. They stay longer here than any other place in the world. Paddleboarding, adventure tours, hiking, kayaking, zip-lining, whale & dolphin tours, bird-watching, horseback riding, hidden waterfalls & swimming holes, deserted beaches, surfing, ATV tours, and more! We are 5 minutes from a small town with restaurants, banks, and grocery stores, yet you feel far away from it all in our private river sanctuary surrounded by primary forest.

Discounts for weekly stays! You can also rent a car in Uvita for day trips. We are 1hr from Manuel Antonio or Drake Bay / Corcovado Park.

Transit

The local town of Uvita has a bus system that is clean, safe, and affordable. You can easily take day trips to Manual Antonio National Park, Sierpe, Jaco, or all the way to San Jose with no problem.

You can also rent a car in Uvita if you want to explore the neighboring areas. Uvita is very centrally located so with a rental car you can do day trips to Manual Antonio, Ojochal, Domincal, Perez Zeldon, San Isidro, or even Sierpe or Corcovado National Park.

In Uvita, you can also rent bicycles or scooters to enjoy exploring the town and beaches.

House Rules

No parties or events are allowed.

No smoking is allowed inside the villas or around the pool. You can smoke outside the main gate.

No pets allowed.

No unregistered guests are allowed.

All opened food items must be in sealed containers, ziplock bags, or in the refrigerator. We are in the jungle and so ants and exotic insects will be attracted. Seal everything in ziplock bags or use the containers we have provided. Food scraps should not be left in your villa. Empty them into the outside trash receptacle provided outside your villa. This is to prevent the ants from coming inside your villa and is very important.

Pool is closed after 10:00pm

No Glass Containers of any kind can be used near the swimming pool.

Please turn off the AC when you go out. You can also simply adjust it to the warmest setting.

Please take extra care of your keys. Lost keys incur a replacement fee.

Please take care of the furnishings. You have to pay for damages

Please don’t rearrange the furniture.

Please do your dishes.

Please take the trash out before you leave. Place it in the trash can by the black bamboo.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made 30 days prior to your arrival will receive a full refund. Cancellations made between 7-30 days prior to your arrival will receive a 50% refund. No refunds within the 6 days before your arrival as we have blocked the dates and turned away other paying guests.
